Mit diesem Update stellt HP neue Patches fuer die Version A.02.00.11
der HP WBEM Services zur Verfuegung
CVE-2007-5360 – Buffer Overflow in OpenPegasus Management Server
Im OpenPegasus Management Server laesst sich ein Buffer OVerflow bei
der PAM Authentifizierung ausloesen. Dazu muss der Server allerdings
zur Verwendung von PAM und mit der Option
PEGASUS_USE_PAM_STANDALONE_PROC kompiliert sein (z.B. im VMWare ESX
Server 3.0.1 und 3.0.2 ). Ein entfernter Angreifer kann die
Schwachstelle dazu ausnutzen, um beliebige Befehle mit den Rechten der
Anwendung auszufuehren.
CVE-2008-0003 – Buffer Overflow in der OpenPegasus Funktion
PAMBasicAuthenticator::PAMCallback()
Im OpenPegasus CIM Management Server laesst sich in der Funktion
PAMBasicAuthenticator::PAMCallback() ein Buffer Overflow bei der PAM
Authentifizierung ausgeloest werden. Dazu muss der Server allerdings
zur Verwendung von PAM und ohne die Option
PEGASUS_USE_PAM_STANDALONE_PROC kompiliert sein. Ein entfernter, nicht
authentifizierter Angreifer kann die Schwachstelle ausnutzen, um
beliebige Befehle mit den Rechten des Server Prozesses (i.d.R. root)
auszufuehren.
Die Schwachstelle ist aehnlich, aber nicht identisch mit CVE-2007-5360.
OpenPegasus wird auch als Teil der HP-UX WBEM Services verwendet.
