CVE-2008-0960 – Schwachstelle in verschiedenen Implemetierungen der
SNMPv3 HMAC Authentifizierung

Eine Schwachstelle in verschiedenen Implementierungen der SNMPv3 HMAC
Authentifizierung fuehrt dazu, dass die Authentifizierung umgangen
werden kann. Dies ist moeglich, wenn im Agenten keine oder eine zu
kleine Mindestlaenge fuer den Authentifikationswert bei HMAC
Authentifizierung durchgesetzt wird. In diesem Fall kann ein Angreifer
eine Laenge von einem Byte fuer den Authentifikationswert angeben und
den eigentlichen Wert erraten (mit einer Wahrscheinlichkeit von 1 zu
256). Durch Senden entsprechend aufgebauter SNMPv3 Pakete kann der
Angreifer ueber das Netz beliebigen SNMP Befehle auf dem betroffenen
System ausfuehren.

Derzeit betrifft die Schwachstelle die Implementierungen Net-SNMP bzw.
UCD-SNMP sowie davon abgeleitete Produkte wie eCos, Juniper Session and
Resource Control (SRC) C-series, NetApp (Network Appliance) Data
ONTAP, SNMP Research und Cisco IOS, CatOS, ACE und Nexus.
