CVE-2011-2964 – Schwachstelle im Druck-Filter foomatic-rip

Im Druck-Filter foomatic-rip, der Teil der spooler-unabhaengigen
Kommandozeilenschnittstelle von foomatic ist, werden Benutzereingaben
nicht hinreichend gefiltert, und Optionen eines Druckauftrages
(“username”, “title” oder “job options”) koennen als Optionen der
Befehlszeile ausgewertet werden. Hierdurch kann an Stelle der vom
Administrator vorgegebenen PostScript printer description (PPD) Datei
eine manipulierte uebergeben werden. Ein entfernter Angreifer kann diese
Schwachstelle ausnutzen, um beliebige Befehle mit den Rechten der
Anwendung (lp) auszufuehren.

Betroffen sind die folgenden Software Pakete und Plattformen:

Fedora 15

Vom Hersteller werden ueberarbeitete Pakete zur Verfuegung gestellt.

Description :
Foomatic is a comprehensive, spooler-independent database of printers,
printer drivers, and driver descriptions. This package contains
utilities to generate driver description files and printer queues for
CUPS, LPD, LPRng, and PDQ using the database (packaged separately).
There is also the possibility to read the PJL options out of PJL-capable
laser printers and take them into account at the driver description
file generation.

There are spooler-independent command line interfaces to manipulate
queues (foomatic-configure) and to print files/manipulate jobs
(foomatic printjob).
